Important: Always take the scanner out of the OBD port. Leaving the scanner in the port can slowly drain your battery over time.

Compatibility

American-made cars manufactured after 1996 should have no issues, while European cars may only be compatible if they were made after 2003. There must be a 16-pin data link connector under the dashboard and the vehicle emission control information label must state that the vehicle is OBD II compliant. Important: Not for EVs, hybrids and some diesel vehicles!

The effectiveness of the scanner may be influenced by the specific 3rd party program you choose. If the scanner doesn't work switching to a different app could potentially resolve the problem.

How to Use

1. Plug the device into your car's OBD2 port under the dashboard.
2. Start the car and enable Bluetooth on your phone, tablet or Windows computer.
3. Download and run the app.
4. Look for "OBDII" in the app and pair with it (pin 1234 or 0000).
5. Wait for the device to successfully connect to your car's ECU.
6. Disconnect Bluetooth and close the app when done testing one car.

If you use the same OBD scanner on 2 or more cars, you need to disconnect Bluetooth and close the app when you finish testing one car.
